![]() all of which has nothing to do with my issue.īut we know these encodes are good, your other Mac can play them back just fine. Perhaps they're there I just haven't found them. I have not been able to find suitable explanations of the EyeTV commands and the functions. I tried but it seems most folks give up because they never actually address the problems at hand, only make sure the reporting process is followed. That in itself isn't bad, but it assumes they actually solve problems and fix defects. When you try and contact them at their site they enforce a rigid process for addressing problems and defects. I have tried repeatedly to get the EyeTV HD IR sensor to capture my Cox controller signals but it cannot register two of the keys. For example using my ipad to control all my HT equipment meant learning about IR controllers, TCP/IP, iRule, MKV, Eye TV and iRed2.two steps forward and three steps back. Each time I discover a neat technique to streamline the Home theater process it means teaching myself another technology and sorting out the wrinkles. I'm resorting to iRed2 to try and get it to control the Scientific Atlantic cable box to change channels.but that's yet another learning process which seems to consume all my spare retirement time. Further, the IR blaster has never worked. Like most software/hardware today there is no useful manual. The EyeTV, while a great idea is not, to use your term, a properly designed product. I use EyeTV because it's all there is to get stuff off my Cox DVR, other than record composite to an old Panasonic DVD burner. Since our messages are crossing right now I'll not respond to to your previous message until you get a chance to read my reply. What I want to know is if that second version has audio, because the fact is every recording or conversion that the EyeTV HD does for you will have the exact same (crappy) audio-it can only record analog stereo AAC and that's what it includes in every resulting file. Next, why are you trying to transcode your EyeTV HD recordings-what device(s) are you trying to play them back on? This is interesting to me because you say that EyeTV software's own conversion doesn't include audio properly-my question is how do you know? Are you trying to play these EyeTV/Handbrake transcodes back on an iPad or AppleTV or iPhone or merely trying to play them back with the very same Mac mini? This is why I asked if you could try the EyeTV HDs dual recording feature-that it can record one program at full "best" quality and simultaneously record an "iPhone version" of that same program. ![]() ![]() If there really is no audio when you play it back with various software players on a different computer, then it's likely you aren't using Handbrake properly. Next, let's deal with one of those Handbrake transcodes that you can't play back successfully on the mini-do you have another Mac or PC in the house that you can move the transcode over to and try to play back? This will tell you a few things-that the audio track is indeed there, that you know how to use Handbrake and that the reason you aren't getting audio when you're using the Mac mini has something to do with Mini output settings, your connection to the AVR, or the AVR settings. First, can you play the original EyeTV recording, which we know has audio, back with VLC and get audio? So, let's try something without changing any settings or hardware or even dealing with Handbrake. if you're connected to your AVR properlyīasically, you've told us that you are able to play back recordings made with the EyeTV HD with audio but that when you attempt a transcode of that recording, you can't get audio no matter which software player you try. if your Mac is set to output audio properlyĤ. if the EyeTV software itself is functioning properlyģ. if you know how to use Handbrake properlyĢ. Here's our problem: in order to help you we have to figure out a few things, and in order to figure those out, you have to be more specific:ġ. I hadn't had my morning espresso when I posted that, Rich, so I'll try again, this time seeming less curt.
